VAN HORNE, Shirley June (Smith), age 96, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Eden Villa, Chatham.

Shirley was born June 29, 1926, in London, Ontario.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years Adrian Michael Van Horne (2010), her parents Percy Henry Smith (1985) and Christina Mabel Smith, nee Kendall (1979); brother Albert Smith (1998); and sister Verna Lama (2005.)

She leaves behind her sister Vera Barker of Mayerthorpe, Alberta and children Shirley (Lawrence) Sturdevant of Burlington, Michael (Mary) Van Horne and Kim Sanson of Chatham.

She will be sadly missed but eternally loved by her grandchildren Deborah Sturdevant (Michael Patterson) of Southampton, Trevor (Hilary) Sturdevant of Burlington, Michael (Kristine) Van Horne of Woodbridge, Andrea (Gregory) Ryckman of London, Gillian (Constantine) Grantcharov of Waterloo; and, great-grandchildren Ethan and Brooke Van Horne, Kaitlyn and Caleb Ryckman, Henry Sturdevant.

Shirley was an active member of Bethel Pentecostal Church, Wallaceburg for most of her adult life until her move to Evangel Community Church, Chatham following the death of her husband. Stewardship was always very important to Shirley and she and her late husband, Mike, made regular contributions of their time and resources to their community and church ministries both near and far.

In their honour, donations to your charity of choice may be left at the funeral home.

Many thanks to the staff and residents of Eden Villa Retirement Home, Chatham where Shirley was welcomed and cared for during the last 12 years of her life.  As Mom would say, "Love you. God bless!"

Family and friends will be received at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin Street, Wallaceburg on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 1-2 p.m. with the Funeral Service immediately following at 2 p.m., all from the Chapel of the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg.
