Sandra
Gormely
Aug 17, 1946 — Aug 11, 2016
Sandra "Sandy" Elizabeth DeLorme Gormely (Puskas) passed away at 12:03 p.m. on August 11
th, 2016, at Bluewater Hospital in Sarnia, just six days shy of her 70th birthday. She was born on August 17th, 1946. Sandy had been in the ICU Unit, on life support, for weeks due to complications stemming from lung cancer and kidney failure.
Sandy is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Katherine (McPhail) DeLorme of Wallaceburg. Sandy leaves behind her twin sister, Susan DeLorme Vermette, a resident of Dresden and niece April and nephew Keil, also of Wallaceburg.
Sandy spent the last 28 years with Bryan Puskas, also raised in Wallaceburg, parents Lou and Agnes; siblings Kym, Glynis and Devan, and daughter Michelle Leigh Nicholson, raised in Chatham, ON; a long time resident of Manhattan, NY and Vero Beach, Florida. Sandy's only step daughter now resides in Sarnia.
Sandy attended Wallaceburg District High School, and went on to work in an executive administrative capacity for RBC Dominion Securities for nearly a decade. Previously Sandy worked for Waltec, in administration and payroll.
Sandy loved dancing and was a voracious reader. Especially devouring mysteries of all sorts- murder, mayhem, betrayal and intrigue. Sandy was even known to read constantly while on vacation or while fishing on the boat with Bryan. She cared less about what was biting her line and more about what was on the next page!
A lover of music, such as Loretta Lynn, Roy Orbison, Paul Simon, Patsy Cline, Traveling Wilburys, Motown, Soft Rock, County and various hits from the 50s. Sandy had a creative soul and was quite crafty. She enjoyed knitting, making quilted items, denim purses, home decor such as window treatments, as well as various Christmas decorations.
Sandy maintained friendships from as far back as grade 2 and her friends valued and cherished their long time friendship.
For the past dozen years, Sandy acted as the annual hostess for the Puskas Family Reunion, held every second week of July, a long standing tradition that began after World War II.
As per Sandy's wishes, she did not want a viewing, funeral or mass but family and close friends will gather to have her cremated remains interred with her parents at a cemetery in Port Lambton in the near future.
As a living memorial, a tree will be planted in Nicholls Memorial Forest in memory of Sandy Gormely.
