Mr. Rene Van De Velde, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Sydenham Campus, Wallaceburg, at the age of 96. Rene was born in South Bend, Indiana, U.S.A. and was a son of the late Alphonse and Martha (DeMeester) Van De Velde. Beloved husband of the late Alice Van De Velde (2003). Loving father of George (Madeliene) Van De Velde, Ronald (Yvonne) Van De Velde, Robert (Cathy) Van De Velde and Gary (Charline) Van De Velde. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Arlene, Alan, Annette, Michael, Susan, Mark, Christine, Tom, Renee, Sarah, Lisa and 18 great grandchildren. Kind brother of Nascarino Rosseel, Clara (Alton) Brown and Mary (Ron) Gervason. Predeceased by his brothers in law Harry Rosseel, Ernie Ghesquire and a sister in law Elsie Patterson and her husband Gord. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Wallaceburg. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Charity of Your Choice may be left at the funeral home.
