Mrs. Phyllis Jean Hazzard, a resident of Wallaceburg passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the age of 79 years. Phyllis was born on September 15, 1932 in Port Lambton and was a daughter of the late Ernie and Lilly Mae Highfield. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Hazzard (2006). Phyllis was an employee of Bell Canada. She was a dedicated mother, homemaker and caregiver until her recent illness. Loving mother of Judith (Jim) Barr of Kingsville and Janice (Francis) Dobbelaar of Wallaceburg. Sadly missed by her grandchildren: Hollie, Ian, Ashley, Lauren, Paul, Sean and great grandchild, Dylan. Kind sister of Kelly (Mabel) Highfield of Nova Scotia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Bruce Highfield (1968) and Peter Highfield (1993). Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg, (Ph# 519 627 2861). At Phyllis's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Cremation will take place with a private family interment in Dresden Cemetery, at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
