Peacefully, at Meadowpark Nursing Home, Chatham, on June 4, 2017, Nan Smith in her 91st year.  Predeceased by her beloved husband Don (2002) and her mother and father Harold and Edith Childs.  Dearly loved mother of Michelle Mathany (Paul) of Wallaceburg and Dave (Wendy) Smith of London.  Doting grandmother to Justin Smith of London.  Nan retired as Administrative Officer from Children's Hospital of Western Ontario - Paediatrics in 1996 after 38 years of service.  She wore many hats over her lifetime; Life Guard in Port Stanley, Member of the Red Cross and Founder and past Regent of the Dr. J.C. Rathbun Chapter of the IODE.  Nan and Don retired to her beloved Port Stanley where she had spent her years growing up at the family cottage.  Nan loved her family and friends, summers in Muskoka and winters in Florida.  She was an extraordinary chef, a voracious reader and adored all her dogs, especially her Bouviers.  In accordance with Nan's wishes, there will be no visitation nor service.  Cremation has taken place.  Interment will be held at a later date.  The family deeply appreciates all the staff at Meadowpark who took such great care of Mom over the years.  A special thank you to Dr. Biondi.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Nan are asked to consider the New Chatham-Kent Animal Shelter (newanimalshelterck.com) or the Chatham-Kent Hospice, 34 Wellington St. E in Chatham, Ontario   N7M 3N7 or www.chatham-kenthospice.com .  Online condolences may be left at www.ericfnichollsfuneralhome.com .
