Mr. Melvin "Mel" Murphy, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General Campus, in Chatham, at the age of 74 years. Mel was born in Wallaceburg and was a son of Henry and Thelma (Moreland) Murphy. Beloved husband of Elda (Ricciotti) Murphy. Loving father of Mike (Patty) Murphy and Paul (Tanya) Murphy. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Ella and Liam. Kind brother and brother-in-law of Ken (Kay) Murphy, Elio (Margaret) Ricciotti and Silvia Labute. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Cremation will take place. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 19, 2013 from Our Lady Help of Christians Church, in Wallaceburg, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Greg Bonin, Celebrant and Fr. Jacek Kokosa, Co-Celebrant. Interment of Ashes will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Vincent de Paul or the Canadian Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
