Mrs. Leona Mae Bernard , a longtime resident of Port Lambton, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the age of 81.

Leona was a daughter of Thomas and Vera ( Lewis ) Ewing and raised in Sombra .

Beloved wife of the late Philip Bernard (1976) .

Loving mother of Charles Bernard, Brenda Bernard-Vanderkley and Yvon Bernard.

Sadly missed by her grandchildren Nicole, Mark (Chantelle), Kelly, Der ric k ( Kristin ), Trevor (La V ahn) and her great grandchildren Carter, C ayden, Taylor, Ash, Jessica, M a ya, Miliana, Xavier, Ryatt, Emerson, Lailah and Brayden.

Kind sister of Velma (Hugh), Lola and Harold (Rosemary).

Predeceased by a brother Lloyd Ewing.

Leona was a caretaker for the Sacred Heart Church/Rectory in Port Lambton , for many years until her retirement.

Friends will be received at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg, on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday , June 3, 2017 at 11 a.m., from Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton with Fr. Gerard Bedard, Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Port Lambton .

As an expression of sympathy , donations to Right to Life , the Alzheimers Society or the VON Geranium Ho use may be left at the funeral home.
