With his hard working hands at rest and his family by his side, James ("Jim") Edwin Hay of Sombra passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the age of 76 years. He was born in Chatham and was the oldest son of the late Edwin and Kathleen (Flynn) Hay. Celebrating 50 years together, he is survived by his loving wife, Anne (Rowley) Hay. Loving and cherished father of Carolyn Hay, Kristen (Matt) Campbell, Kevin (Kaila Cadotte) Hay. Devoted papa to Gregory Hay, Dracen and Camden Campbell. Dear brother of Ellen (the late Tom) Atkins, Tim (Cyndi) Hay, Mark (Marianne) Hay, and the late Stephen Hay. Kind brother-in-law of Joan (the late Bob) Rymal, Brian (Sherry) Rowley and Sandra (Richard "Pork") Gray. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Jim worked for many years at NuGro while pursuing his passion of farming. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and socializing in his shed. He strived to instill the value of hard work and farm life in his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in supporting his grandchildren in their many activities.
The late James Hay is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd . 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg ( 519-627-2861 ). Family and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm.
A Funeral Mass celebration will take place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 11 am from Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton, cremation will follow. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Sacred Heart Food Bank would be appreciated
