With heavy hearts, we announce that Eric Stallaert passed peacefully at home on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at the age of 68 years. He was born in Chatham and was a son of the late Cornelius and Anna (Van Damme) Stallaert. He was a beloved and cherished husband to Kathy (Smith) Stallaert for 47 years. Dear father of Melissa (Scott), Adam (Katie) and Dave (Lydia). He was a proud grandfather to Eva, Dylan, Ben, June, Hannah, Hazel, Maverick and Gwen. He was a kind brother of Linda (the late Maurice) Lesy, Ray (Pam) Stallaert, Lavina (Don) Toulouse, Al (Simone) Stallaert, the late Alexis Sharrow and a late infant brother Larry. He will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Eric was a farmer through and through and a man who spent his life doing what he loved most. He was fortunate to call the land he loved home for his entire life. It was more than a farm to him; it was where his story began, where he built his life, raised his family with his wife He spent his last days combining beans and planting wheat with his family. Eric always had a way with animals and will be missed by the dogs and horses.

The late Eric Stallaert is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home.

In honouring his wishes, cremation will take place and his family will have a private celebration of his life at a later date.
