Mrs. Eleanor Oliphant, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Sydenham Campus, in Wallaceburg, at the age of 98 years. She was born in Sombra Township and was a daughter of the late Harry and Eleanor (DesLauriers) Brown. She was a longtime member of the Holy Family Catholic Womens League for 75 years. Beloved wife of the late James Oliphant (1995). Dear mother and mother-in-law of: Joanne & Ray Mitchell, Harriet & Norm Trepanier, Delores Ash, Mark Oliphant and Sharron Oliphant. Sadly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son, Hugh Oliphant and two brothers, Wilford Brown and Jaffre Brown. The late Eleanor Oliphant is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 11-1 at Holy Family Church, Wallaceburg with the service immediately following at 1pm. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Port Lambton. As an expression of sympathy donations to the the Canadian Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
