Mrs. Calvena Blanche Dooley, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the age of 75 years. She was a resident of Walpole Island First Nation and was a daughter of the late Calvin John and Ida "Ida Blue" Blanche (Isaac) Sampson. Mother of Dorothy Ellen Dooley and Walter Calvin Dooley. Grandmother of Doniece Cathleen (Bryson Case) Dooley, Craig Curtis Dooley Sr., Danielle Courtney Dooley, Christopher Calvin Dooley, Benjamin Mancuso and Jensen Penassé. Great grandmother of Makai Leigh Case, Tovi Sy Case, Chloe Joyce Dooley, Craig Curtis Dooley Jr., and Ellyanna Dursa Whiteye. Kind sister of Joseph Ross (Wendy) Sampson and his children Lisa and Laurel and the late Roger Blain Sampson (2010). Aunt of Yvonne Blanche and her family. Best friend of Elaine Jacobs, Lavern (Lynn) Jacobs, Gayleen (Frank) , Rita Sands (Bob) and her children Marla, Kendell and Summer. She was a member of A.L.A.G., one of the last fluent Ojibwe speakers, a Nurse, R.N.A. and a P.S.W.
Calvena will always be loved and missed by her many cousins, family and friends.
The late Calvena Dooley is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg. Family will be received at the funeral home on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 2 pm. from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Walpole Island. Interment in Highbanks Cemetery.
