Mrs. Alide Lena Galarneau, a resident of the Sombra and Wallaceburg area, passed away on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 at the age of 96 years. She was the daughter of Theophil and Alice (Reynnaert) Van Gheluwe. Loving mother and mother-in-law of: Elaine & Dick Putnam and Sharon & Wally Mytka. Dear grandmother of Michelle, David, Jenny, Julie, Kathy and Evelyn. Dear great grandmother of Nicole, Alicia, Brent, Emma, Gavin and Duncan. Kind sister and of: Florence Dewachter and Lorraine Lockey. Predeceased by her first husband, Ernest DeBaene (1972) and her second husband, Roscoe Galarneau (2003), a son, Robert (1946), two brothers in infancy, and her sisters, Zelma DeClerck, Mary Pepper and Lucy. Lena was a lifetime member of the Catholic Womens League. Mrs. Lena Galarneau is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin St. Wallaceburg, Ontario. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 7-9pm. Prayers, Friday at 7pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 9, 2010, from Holy Family Church, in Wallaceburg, at 11:00am. Interment will be in St. Anthonys Cemetery, Chatham. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home.
